* Private Bus Owners to support 3-day countrywide strike

July 31, Colombo: Sri Lanka Marxist party, JVP parliamentarian K.D. Lal Kantha today announced that the country's largest private bus operators' union -Sri Lanka Private Bus Operator's Organization has agreed to support a planned three-day countrywide strike demanding an immediate pay hike.

Addressing a press conference today Lal Kantha, leader of the National Trade Union Centre (NTUC) said that after discussion with the officials of the Sri Lanka Private Bus Operator’s Organization led by President Gemunu Wijeratna, the decision has been taken.

On July 10, the NTUC launched a countrywide strike demanding pay hike and four other demands. But the Bus owners did not take part.
