July 31, Colombo: Sri Lanka has significantly improved its position in the recently published Global Network Readiness Index (NRI) which measures a nation's or community's degree of preparation, to participate in and benefit from ICT developments which happen to be the driving force in today's world.
The NRI featured in the Global Information Technology Report (GITR) 2007, published by the World Economic Forum, establishes an international framework by which the performance in networked readiness of a large number of economies/countries can be assessed and benchmarked against one another over a period of time.
Sri Lanka being a fast developing country in the Asian region, showcasing many avenues it has excelled during the last few years, secured 79th position (out of 127 countries) during the period 2007-08, against 86th position (out of 122 countries) it obtained in 2006-07.
