Sunday, July 27, 2008, 5:33 GMT, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

July 27, Colombo: Sri Lanka defence officials citing reliable sources in the Tamil Tiger held areas in the island's Northern Province today said that the Tamil Tigers had obtained "a large number of vehicles" belonging to the Norwegian Peoples Aid (NPA), an international non-governmental organization operating in the North.

According to the sources, the Tigers have been using these vehicles for military related activities such as bunker construction, transporting of LTTE leaders etc.

The vehicles reportedly taken by the Tigers include few earth moving vehicles, trucks, jeeps, tractors, and motorbikes, the sources further said. The possibility that the Tamil Tigers using these vehicles for propaganda activities cannot be ruled out, the sources added.

NPA is one of Norway's largest non-governmental organisations, involved in more than 400 projects in 30 countries.
