* Sri Lanka restricts use of polythene

July 25, Colombo: Sri Lanka has banned the use of polythene under 20 microns at the upcoming North Central and Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council elections.

The Central Environmental Authority (CEA) of Sri Lanka said that use of such polythene is an offence and legal action will be taken against those who use such polythene.

The CEA also urged the candidates to refrain from using fire crackers to prevent noise pollution.
