July 19, Colombo: Heavy rain overnight yesterday caused floods in several parts of the country affecting thousands of people in Ratnapura, Kegalle, Kalutara, and Galle districts.

Sri Lanka’s Disaster Management Centre said that at least two deaths one in Kegalle and another one in Matale were reported. Around 4,000 families have been affected by the floods.

Authorities said the floods are easing in most of the areas but warned that floods may rise if rain continues.
