* Sri Lanka Air Force pounds Tamil Tigers withdrawing from Vidattaltivu

July 16, Colombo: Sri Lanka Air Force launched air strikes at the Tamil Tigers who were withdrawing towards North of Vidattaltivu this afternoon, Air Forces said.

Defense authorities said MI 24 helicopter gunships fired at two Tamil Tiger boats detected 4km North of Vidattaltivu around 1 PM and sunk both boats.

Meanwhile, Air Force fighter jets pounded regrouping Sea Tigers at a camp located in the Vallaipadhu area, 40 km north of Vidattaltivu around 3.30 PM today. Fighter pilots have confirmed heavy damages to the Tamil Tigers, the sourced added.
