July 15, Colombo: The Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) along with the University of Moratuwa officially launched the latest internet browser Mozilla Firefox 3.0 in Sri Lanka today.
With the government planning to increase the IT literacy rate from the 20 percent reported last year, the English language has become a hurdle for rural Sri Lanka. The introduction of Mozilla Firefox with native Sinhala is expected to help rural Sri Lankans including children to learn basic computing.
