* Sri Lanka government controls public movement due to SAARC

July 14, Colombo: In preparation for the upcoming 15th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) summit to be held in Colombo, Ministry of Defence has announced that some parts of the Colombo city as high security zones preventing any civilian movements within the identified areas.

According to sources, Colombo Fort and Kolpetty areas including some parts of the Slave Island area have been identified as High Security zones and asked the public to avoid those.

It is also reported that the government is planning to announce a public holiday period from July 25 – 30, 2008 for the eight-day summit beginning July 27.
