July 12, Negombo: A fire caused by an electrical shortage has burned down four shops in the Negombo town early this morning causing a loss of about 100 million rupees.

According to the sources in the area, the fire has originated at a footwear shop on the Main Street around 1 am and spread to three other buildings.

The Negombo Municipal council had to use 4 fire engines to douse the fire, the sources added.
