Tuesday, July 1, 2008, 15:58 GMT, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

July 01, Colombo: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) today called for an end to indiscriminate attacks on public transportation and crowded public places.

“Civilians have been killed, beaten, arrested or simply went missing after being directly targeted in the country,” it said.

It also said that at least 80 people lost their lives in indiscriminate attacks on public transportation and crowded public places since April 1 and claimed that all sides of the conflict should recognize that international law prohibits attacks on civilians.
