July 01, Colombo: A VIP helicopter on a logistic mission in connection with a state ceremony in Arugambe, Ampara, was forced to land at a nearby location this evening when the pilot detected a quick drop in fuel levels.
“The Bell 412 [sic] helicopter engaged in some logistic work in connection with the ceremony was safely landed following timely detection of the technical fault,” an Air Force official said.
Investigations conducted after landing found that one fuel tank had being damaged due to gun shot, he added.
