July 10, Colombo: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sri Lanka has condemned the terrorist attack yesterday targeting the Consulate General of the United States in Istanbul, Turkey.
Also, the government expressed its grave concern that the terrorist attack had targeted a diplomatic mission. “It is deeply disturbing that the attack was carried out with full knowledge that civilians could suffer death or injury,” the government stated in a press release.
While conveying its condolences to the families of the security personnel who lost their lives in the attack, the Sri Lankan government highlighted the need “to redouble efforts at international level to eradicate terrorism in all its forms and manifestations”.
“Sri Lanka will continue to work with the international community in this endeavour,” the press release said.
