Jan 31, Colombo: A Tamil Tiger suicide bomber blew himself in restive Jaffna this morning killing three civilians, the military said.

Defence sources said the suicide bomber who was on a bicycle exploded himself. Three people were killed instantly and seventeen others received injuries. Seven victims are in critical condition, hospital sources said.

Military spokesperson Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara speaking to the media said that this is a cowardly attempt by the terrorists to instill fear among the Tamil civilians living in Jaffna Peninsula. Authorities believe the explosion was premature since there was no target in the area.
