Jan 30, Colombo: Sri Lanka government sources said that the 15th summit of South Asian Regional Corporation (SAARC) is scheduled to be held in the hill capital, Kandy. The summit of the head of states is to be held from the 27th of July to the 3rd August 2008, the sources added.
A special development program has been planned to improve infrastructure in the Island’s hill capital in connection with the event. The development program will give special attention to strengthen the value of the ancient city as a world heritage, said the sources.
Around 1,000 delegates from the SAARC countries are expected to attend the summit.
Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bhutan, Nepal, and Maldives are the permanent members of the SARRC.
