Jan 20, Colombo: The government of Sri Lanka has decided to provide one kilo of rice , at a price Rs.10 less than the market price to the families of upcountry workers.

The government has come to this decision to provide relief to the workers facing problems due to sky rocketing wheat flour prices.

There are over 500,000 upcountry workers employed mainly in the tea states in Sri Lanka. Since they are the largest wheat flour consumers in the country, they have been faced with serious problems with the increasing prices of flour as well as the rice.
