Jan 13, Colombo: Sri Lankan Premier Rathnasiri Wickramanayaka says that the year 2008 will bring an end to the terrorism in the country. He also stressed that the government is ready to take that challenge and will rid the country from the stinking scourge of terrorism.
The Premier made these comments today when he gave the keynote address at the awarding of Mahapola scholarships to the students at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium, Colombo.
Mahapola Scholarship Scheme was created by Late Minister of Education Lalith Athulathmudali in 1981 to support the higher education of low income students. So far over 10,000 students in all parts of the country have received the scholarship. Lalith Athulathmudali was assassinated by suspected LTTE assassins in 1990.
