* Japanese peace envoy expected in Sri Lanka

Jan 11, Colombo: Japanese peace envoy Yasushi Akashi will visit Sri Lanka from Sunday, January 13, to Tuesday, January 15, to discuss with the government the current state of the peace process and its future.

The Japanese Embassy in Colombo said this is Mr. Akashi’s 15th visit to Sri Lanka since he was appointed the Representative of the Government of Japan for Peace-building, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction in Sri Lanka.

Informed sources said that during the visit, he is expected to meet President Mahinda Rajapaksa and several other political leaders.
