Jan 10, Colombo: Special Task Force (STF) Commandant Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Nimal Lewke has been appointed as Security Coordinator for the Western Province with immediate effect.

Defence sources said the new appointment was made in response to a growing threat on Colombo city and its suburbs with the abrogation of the Ceasefire Agreement and removal of permanent road blocks.

DIG Lewke will work directly with the Operational Command - Colombo, headed by Major General Lawrence Fernando.
