Feb 15, Batticaloa: Sri Lanka government has decided to provide additional security for the 285 polling centers in the Eastern Province where local government elections will be held on the 10th of March.
According to the government sources, the Police Department will provide 5 police officers for each polling centre, whereas only two were allocated previously. This decision was taken following discussions held between the government officials and the security forces of the region.
Meanwhile, preparations have been made to help Internally Displace People vote at additional polling booths set up close to their camps, sources said.
