Dec 04, Colombo: Extension of the Emergency rule for another month passed in Sri Lanka Parliament this evening with a majority of 100 votes.

The bill received 114 votes for it and only 14 against it. All the 14 MPs of Tamil National Alliance voted against it while the main opposition United National Party abstained.

Meanwhile, the Defence budget too was passed with a majority of 105 votes. A total of 119 members voted for the Defence budget while the Tamil National Alliance members voted against it. This time also the opposition UNP was absent in the House at the time of voting.
