Dec 04, Colombo: Making further unrest at Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) a tense situation had occurred at its headquarters located in Rotunda Gardens, Colombo 03 last night.
According to the sources at the CPC, trade union members have assaulted and chased away former chairman Asantha de Mel's personal staff from its headquarters last night.
Sources at the CPC confirmed that the union members have thrown out all the equipments used by the former Chairman’s staff and taken over the vehicles given by the corporation for the use of his staff.
Problems at the CPC are expanding currently following the Supreme Court’s order last week to sack the former chairman Asantha De Mel over controversial oil hedging deal.
Petroleum minister A.H.M Fowzie yesterday told the parliament that the oil hedging was not his concept, but it was Central Bank Governor’s idea.
