Dec 03, Vavuniya: Doctors of the Vavuniya Hospital, one of the main hospitals which treat the injuring soldiers at northern battlefronts have stopped their work this afternoon.

According to the sources the doctors have taken this decision due to one of the doctors receiving an extortion demand.

The Government Medical Officers’ Association said that the doctors in Vavuniya hospital will not be present for work until the police arrest the extortionists immediately.

It is also reported that the doctors have asked for increased security for their residences as well as the hospital.

This is the second time the doctors in Vavuniya hospital have withdrawn their daily workings within few weeks.
