Dec 29, Colombo: As provincial council elections are fast approaching in Sri Lanka crossovers from main rival parties have begun.

According to the sources Asoka Tennakoon, a brother of Local Government and Provincial Councils Minister Janaka Bandara Tennakoon today has crossed over to the United National Party from the United Peoples Freedom Alliance.

Following this crossover Asoka Tennakoon is scheduled to contest for the upcoming polls in Central Province under the UNP banner.

The reasons for this crossover are not known yet.

However as polls approach more and more possible crossovers to both the opposition and the government are expected.
