* President attends Passing out Ceremony of Army cadets

Dec 20, Colombo: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa as Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces was the chief guest of the Commissioning Ceremony of new cadets held at the Military Academy in Diyatalawa this morning. President inspected a Guard of Honour and laid a flower wreath at the soldiers’ monument in the Camp.

Yesterday night President Rajapaksa attended a presentation staged by the new cadet officers titled "Liberation of East: Reach of humanity through Military operation" at the auditorium in the Army Camp.

Following the commissioning of the new cadets President planted a tree to mark the occasion.

President addressed the gathering of parents following the award presentation to best cadets.

First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and the Army Commander Lt. Gen. Sarath Fonseka also participated in the event.
