Dec 17, Colombo: Sri Lankan Election Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake today announced the names of two new political parties accepted by the Election Secretariat.

According to the Commissioner the new political parties are Democratic Tamil National Alliance and the Haritha Party.

The oil lamp is the symbol of the Democratic Tamil National Alliance and decanter is the symbol of Haritha Party. With these two recognized parties the number of political parties in Sri Lankan has risen to 62 but only 20 parties are active at the moment.
