Dec 01, Colombo: The train fares of Sri Lanka go down from today, the Railway Department announced.
Wijaya Samarasinghe, a senior manager of the Sri Lanka Railway said that the train fares have been reduced by 7% to 20% in four ranges. He said it the first time in history the train fares went down.
Sri Lanka transport authorities reduced the bus fares last month.
With the decline of fuel prices in the international markets, the inflation is gradually decreasing in Sri Lanka. Fuel prices however still remain very high in local markets due to flaws in fuel hedging.
