Dec 01, Colombo: The doctors of Sri Lanka's Northern and Eastern Provinces are to take a decision today regarding their two weeks long boycott of duties after the assassination of a doctor in a hospital in the Batticaloa district, said a spokesman of the Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA).
A special discussion has been arranged between the doctors and the Health Ministry this morning to focus on the doctors' demands.
The GMOA said the doctors would resume duties if positive response is received from the Ministry.
The doctors request Rs. 10 million life insurance, police Special Task Force security, living quarters in the hospital premises and limiting their services only to major hospitals in the region.
Meanwhile, the Ministry sources said that the Ministry has taken steps to grant the doctors' demands.
