* President attends commemoration ceremony of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment

Dec 13, Colombo: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa as Commander-in-Chief was the chief guest at the annual commemoration ceremony of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment held today in Ambepussa.

Events are: President opened the ceremony by lighting the Eternal Lamp and placing a wreath at the War Monument. President later opened a gymnasium and a physiotherapy unit and distributed gifts to disabled soldiers. Army Commander Lt. Gen. Sarath Fonseka presented a memento. President planted a tree to mark the occasion.

Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment formed in 1956 is the only rifle regiment of the Sri Lanka Army. It currently consists of 10 regular units and 5 volunteer units.
