Dec 01, Colombo: Making another significant milestone in its history, the Sri Lankan Railway Department today commenced a new intercity train service from Colombo to Nanu Oya in the central hill country.
The inaugural run took place amid religious ceremonies from the Colombo Fort Railway Station at 8:35 a.m.
According to the Department the train service will run daily at 8:35 a.m. from Fort Railway Station and reach Nanu Oya at 2:10 p.m.
The train will stop only at Peradeniya junction, Gampola, Nawalapitiya, Hatton and Talawakele. The return journey will start at 3:20 p.m. from Nanu Oya and will reach Colombo at 9.00 p.m.
