Dec 01, Colombo: Sri Lanka Supreme Court today suspended the three environmental taxes imposed by the Ministry of Environment on communication towers, CFL bulbs and Western Province vehicles.

Environment Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka imposed taxes on these three items issuing a special gazette notification citing that the items cause environment pollution.

A group including Ven. Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero filed a petition in courts challenging the government’s decision.
