Aug 31, Colombo: The Board of Directors of Sampath Bank recently announced the retirement of the Bank's Managing Director and the Chief Executive Officer, Anil Amarasuriya on reaching the retirement age.

Although he is to retire on September 14, Amarasuriya will continue as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for a transition period until December 31.

Amarasuriya joined the Bank in May 1989. He was promoted as General Manager and Chief Executive Officer in April 1999 and subsequently appointed MD/CEO in July 2000.

The Board also announces the appointment of Harris Premaratne, former Senior Deputy General Manager of Commercial Bank of Ceylon Ltd as CEO designate with effect from October 02. Premaratne counts over 37 years experience in banking and he is an Associate of the Institute of Bankers, London.
