Aug 30, Colombo: Sri Lanka plans to reconstruct the electricity transmission line from Kilinochchi to Jaffna as the security forces are gaining grounds in the North.
The Sri Lankan Cabinet recently approved a proposal submitted by the Minister of Power and Energy, W.D.J. Seneviratne to upgrade and reconstruct the protection scheme of the 220kV transmission line and transformers in the Ceylon Electricity Board power system.
Once normalcy is restored in the region the government plans to reconstruct the 67.2 km transmission line from the Kilinochchi Grid Substation to the Chunnakam Grid substation in Jaffna.
