* Ten suspects escape from the police cell in Sri Lanka

Aug 30, Colombo: Ten suspects who were detained at the Meegahatenna police station in Mathugama district have escaped from the police cell last night.

Police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekara said the suspects, reportedly Army deserters, have escaped from the police by breaking the handcuffs.

Police said suspects are residents of Gampaha, Weliweriya and Galle. Invetigations are inderway to apprehend the suspects.
