Assistant Election Commissioner W.G Sumanasiri said that they have received all the names of councilors who have been selected to the two provincial councils.

In last week’s provincial council election, Sri Lanka’s ruling party United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) won with a clear majority in both provinces.

In the Sabaragamuwa province ruling party got 25 seats with two bonus seats and UNP received 17 seats under their banner. JVP managed to get two seats in Sabaragamuwa province.

Sources in the Election Secretariat said the two chief ministers will be sworn in for their posts within the next few days.
