Aug 29, Colombo: Teacher's union of Sri Lanka stressed today that they haven’t received any proposal from the government regarding the resolve of their salary anomaly yet.
Members of the Teachers' unions have met the President’s Secretary Lalith Weeratunga this morning to discuss their salary problem.
Mahinda Jayasinghe, Secretary of the Lanka Guru Seva Union said if the government fails to resolve the issue the teachers will boycott the GCE A/L paper grading further more.
According to the Examination Commissioner General of Sri Lanka, Anura Edirisinghe only 300 teachers are engaged in paper grading because of this salary problem.
Education Minister Susil Premjayanth yesterday said that he had decided to resolve the salary anomaly of the Teacher’s with effect from next month.
According to the Minister Rs. 1.6 billion will be allocated to rectify the salary anomaly of the teachers.
Mahinda Jayasinghe further said that the President’s Secretary had promised them to discuss the salary problem with the President and resolve it immediately.
