Aug 28, Colombo: United National Party (UNP) rebellious MP group led by Lakshman Seneviratne claims to have taken necessary action to remove the opposition leader Ranil Wickremasinghe.

According to MP Seneviratne, during today’s meeting the working committee has decided to amend the constitution of the party which will be the first step in removing the veteran politician Ranil Wickremasinghe from the position of Opposition Leader.

The recommendation for such action is scheduled to be tabled before the working committee before September 15 this year.

However, UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake denying any efforts or discussions taken place in removing Ranil Wickremasinghe said that only suggestions made by party members were discussed during the meeting.
