* Sri Lanka Air Force strikes LTTE bunkers

Aug 28 Colombo: Sri Lankan Air Force Air Force MI 24 helicopters attacked Tamil Tiger rebel targets in Kilinochchi and Welioya this morning, the military said.

The Air Force launched the first attack at about 7.00 a.m. this morning on a bunker line at Nachchikuda in Kilinochchi.

The strikes were launched to support the 58 Division troops who are advancing into the Kilinochchi area, spokesman for Air Force, Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara said.

The second attack was carried out around 11.00 a.m this morning on Tigers constructing bunkers near the Thannimuruppukulam tank area in Welioya to support the troops of the 59 Division conducting their missions in the area.

The pilots had confirmed that the targets were successfully hit.
