Aug 27, Colombo: Examination Commissioner General of Sri Lanka, Anura Edirisinghe has decided to get assistance from the Courts to provide security for the teachers who are engaged in GCE A/L paper grading.
Exam Commissioner said he will produce the list of names of the teachers who may need the security to the Courts.
Despite many disturbances, GCE A/L paper grading is now in progress at thirty centers in selected districts. At the moment nearly 300 teachers are engaged in the grading of GCE A/L papers.
The Commissioner General said few unions were protesting against the marking of papers and after negotiations with them, several unions have decided to take part in the process.
“Actually I can’t say the paper marking is 100% success, there are many disturbances,” Exam Commissioner admitted.
However Teachers Union in Sri Lanka stressed that the paper marking is totally disabled.
This year 199,062 school candidates and 94,754 external candidates took the GCE A/L examinations island wide. Examinations were held in 1,818 centers including the North and East provinces.
