Aug 25, Colombo: Sri Lanka's main Opposition United National Party today challenged the government to hold Parliamentary election instead of holding mini-elections.
Responding to the government's challenge that it is prepared to accept an election challenge by the main opposition party to hold a general election, UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake told media that “we are ready for a general election at any time.”
Earlier in the day the Sri Lankan government said if the UNP wants a general election, they are ready to hold it within the next three months.
