* Nine Sri Lankan children fall ill by eating poison fruit

Aug 25 Kalutara: Nine Sri Lankan children and two adults have been rushed to the hospital this morning after mistakenly eating a poisonous fruit found in the jungle area of Aluthgama in Kalutara district.

Director of the Nagoda Hospital Dr. Nanda Waduge said all nine children are between the ages of 3 and 12.

Soon after eating the fruit the children and other two adults had started vomiting.

The Director of the hospital said the fruit has been identified as “Hondala” which is botanically known as Adenia hondala.
