Aug 25 Colombo: Sri Lankan Election Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake says the Provincial Council Election held last Saturday was free and fair.

In a statement issued this evening Election Commissioner stressed that there were only few incidents reported regarding election violations.

In his statement Commissioner thanked all the parties who have supported to hold the election successfully.

Regular discussions with the general secretaries of all political parties contested in Saturday’s Provincial Council Election were a great backing for the election success, Dissanayake added.

He pointed out that the network of people monitoring the polls also did their work well.
