* Ranjan receives highest number of preferential votes from Sabaragamuwa

Aug 24, Colombo: Sri Lanka's opposition party, UNP Chief Minister candidate for Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council Ranjan Ramanayake received the highest number of preferential votes from the Ratnapura district as well as the entire province, with 130,258 preferential votes.

Former Sabaragamuwa Chief Minister Mahipala Herath received 98,120 preferential votes from the Kegalle district contesting from the UPFA.

From the Ratnapura district, thirteen UPFA members were elected for the Council, while ten members were from UNP and one from JVP.

In Kegalle district, ten members were elected from UPFA, seven members from UNP and one from JVP.
