* Sri Lanka election monitoring group highlights three election violations in today's polls

Aug 23, Colombo: Sri Lanka election monitoring group Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CaFFE) reports three serious incidents taken place during today's Provincial Council elections.

In Sabaragamuwa Province, several Estate houses have been set on fire at Yatiyanthota by United People's Freedom Alliance (UFPA) supporters injuring a person. The injured has been rushed to the nearest hospital. There was continuous obstruction of voters coming from estate areas into polling booths, CaFFE reported.

In the Anuradhapura District in Thambutegama, Irugaswewa a former Chief Minister and his supporters have set fire to the house of Marxist party, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Pradheshiya Saba Member Dammika Jayawardhena and also assaulted his uncle.

CaFFE has also received reports that the TMVP has been involved in voter intimidation in the Muslim villages of Sungawila and the Palliyagodella areas in the Polonaruwa District.

However, CaFFE said according to their monitors, voters have been participating enthusiastically since early morning period to cast their votes
