* Temporary identity card holders denied from voting in Sri Lanka polls - report

Aug 23, Colombo: Media reports in Sri Lanka said during today's elections several divisions in the Deraniyagala, Kegalle District rejected temporary identity cards issued by the Grama Sevaka.

Proper instructions have not been received by the people regarding the necessity to get the authorized signature of the Divisional Secretary on these temporary identity cards.

Department of Elections has made it mandatory to produce the national identity card or an alternative identity document approved by the Department of Elections or the temporary identity card issued by the Grama Sevaka to vote.
