Aug 23, Colombo: A four-member Japanese parliamentary delegation led by Hosei Norota, a member of the House of Representatives of Japan arrived in the country yesterday (22) on a six-day visit from 22nd to 27th August 2008 on a goodwill visit.
The purpose of their visit is to promote and deepen bilateral relations between the two countries and the peoples, a statement released from Japanese Embassy in Sri Lanka said.
Hosei Norota, a Chairman of Japan-Sri Lanka Parliamentarians’ Friendship Association and a former Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and Defense, is accompanied by several ministers and other government officials of Japan.
During the visit the delegation is scheduled to meet with the leaders of the Sri Lankan Government to exchange views on various bilateral issues.
The delegation will also visit the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy, Sigiriya Rock as well as the new Sigiriya Museum currently under construction with funds provided by the Government of Japan and some project sites funded by Japan, a Japanese Embassy statement said.
