Aug 23, Deraniyagala: Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party's Western Provincial Councilor Jayantha Silva, who was arrested along with his supporters has been remanded today.

Deraniyagala Police said after producing to the Courts, Jayantha Silva and his 10 supporters have been remanded until next Monday.

According to the Police, these persons were arrested last night at a road block near the Deraniyagala town with some illegal weapons.

Deraniyagala Police believe the Provincial Council member and his supporters were on their way to violate election rules when they were arrested.
