Aug 17, Colombo: Sri Lanka President today participated in the closing ceremony of the Randoli Perahera in Kandy. Here he receives the traditional "Sannasa" from the Diyawadana Nilame Nilanga Dela Bandara after the closing ceremony of Perahera.

First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, President’s Secretary Mr. Lalith Weeratunga, Chief Minster Mr. Sarath Ekanayake, and Governor of Central Province Tikiri Kobbekaduwa are also pictured. President then posed for a group picture with all the Nilames (temple custodians) of the Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth).

Randoli Perahera, the grand finale of the 10-day celebrations of the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy, known as Esala Festival ends on the full moon day of the month of August with great pageantry. Thousands of Sri Lankans and foreign visitors including the diplomats attended the procession yesterday.
