Aug 13, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Ministry of Defence today said the Tamil Tigers are engineering a human catastrophic situation in the non liberated territory of Wanni at the behest of Tamil Tiger chief V. Prabhakaran.

Citing reliable sources in Wanni, the Ministry said that orders have been issued by the Tamil Tiger chief to gather all the vehicles of NGOs, government offices, and hospitals to take the civilians to the warfronts shortly.

According to the sources, the civilians are to be taken to the now embattled Tunukkai, Mallavi and Vavunuikulam areas in order to get their assistance to swiftly withdraw the Tamil Tiger camps as the troops advance further into the LTTE territory.

The Ministry says the Tamil Tigers however, may engineer a civilian massacre by risking the civilians at the Tamil Tiger camps in order to win sympathy of international community.
