Apr 09, Colombo: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa landed at the Sanya Phoenix International Airport in China Wednesday morning starting an official visit to attend the annual meeting of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA). The forum will be open on Saturday.
The President was welcomed by Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, Vice Governor of Hainan Province Jiang Sixian and Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Dabo Ye. Chinese Combined Armed Services gave a guard of honor to visiting President on his arrival.
During his stay there the President is expected to meet several government ministers and the Chinese President as well. The two leaders are expected to discuss the development of China-Sri Lanka relations and exchange views on facilitating bilateral relations.
The BFA is a non-governmental, not-for-profit international organization committed to promoting regional economic integration and bringing Asian countries closer to their development goals. It holds a high-level annual forum for government, business, experts, and scholars at Boao, in China focused on economics, integration, cooperation, society, and the environment.
