Apr 17, Colombo: Sri Lanka Air Force fighter jets struck a key logistic complex and an engineering yard of LTTE in the general area of Visuamadu in Mullaithivu district early this morning, the Defense Ministry reported.
Citing the fighter pilots Air Force spokesman said the target which has been under observation for a long time by air surveillance was successfully hit. Increased activity observed lately led to the attack, reports said.
According to the defense intelligence sources the targeted base has been used as a key logistic hub for heavy engineering and construction work by the Tigers. The base reportedly contained a large vehicle yard and several hardware stores, from where the outfit allocates resources for heavy construction work particularly those done for the safety of its leaders such as construction of fortified bunkers and tunnels.
